background/background project info

How can you use your words, posture, and composition to create an figurative drawing with a particularly expressive tone? What sort of posture do we take when reflecting? What other feelings emerge when we become contemplative or reflective? Why take time to reflect in the first place??? WHAT sort of tone might you work to express in your drawing?

Requirements:

  • include text,
  • include the figure
  • include YOUR writing
  • use value/volume

Additional Thoughts:

  • consider how you crop the figure...do you let the piece run off the page or repeat?
  • consider contrasts...could your image be up-beat and your text more somber or vice versa?
  • what sort of tone would you like to express?

Evaluation will be based on the evidence of skill (proportion, value, use of materials for expressive purposes, surface richness, composition) as well as originality/evidence of individual voice or vision coming through in the work.
