Link to the class Google Doc from BEFORE spring break

CLASS GRADING: New - updated April 20

    • Any student passing Chemistry B on March 13 - has earned "Credit" for the course, regardless of the final grade
      • Reassessments of Unit 2 & 3 Standards are available until May 29 - email Mr. E to work out the details
      • You are still only allowed a total of 3 reassessments for the semester.
    • Work from March 13 - April 13: marked only "collected" to indicate that it was completed, does not affect grades but the material is used in future assignments
    • Work from April 20 - May 29:
      • Practice Quizzes - graded with: 0pts (not completed or all incorrect) OR   3pts (completed but more than 1 incorrect) OR  5pts (no more than 1 incorrect)
      • Lab Reports - 20pts, completed on Google Classroom using videos of Mr. E doing the lab
        • After you "Turn In" your assignment & earn a grade, you may resubmit once making corrections based on Mr. E's comments allowing you to earn more points
      • Test Reflection - 10pts, completed on Google Classroom after you take a "test" (no points given & similar to what you would have taken in class) and then reflect on how you would have done when you look at the answers.
      • LATE WORK: in order to maintain flexibility during this unusual situation, due dates are simply when Mr. E will begin putting in points. If it is not turned in, he will mark it as "Missing" and leave it blank for 1 week.
You may complete the work anytime before May 29 with no penalty.
      • Missing Work: Work that is not done 1 week after the due date will receive zero points in PowerSchool and therefore negatively affect your grade in Chemistry. New clarification as of April 20

      • March 15 - March 21

BELOW IS A SUGGESTED SCHEDULE OF WORK TO DO FOR THE WEEK:

        Mon. March 16:
        Look at standards 3.1 - 3.5
        - is there anything you need to look at more before taking the Unit 3 Practice Test
Look at the Essential Questions (@ Google Classroom)
        - add as many ideas as you can from Unit 2 (Bohrs atom, Orbitals, Electron Configurations etc) and from Unit 3 (Molecule Shapes, Polarity, & how it Impacts your World)
        - be ready to share ideas when we are back together

        Tues. March 17:

Take this Practice Test - ideally, you wouldn't use any notes (do you have all 5 shapes memorized?)
        - this is important to do while it is still fresh and you will likely need to do something in April for points in PowerSchool

Now use this ANSWER SHEET - to grade yourself
        - reply to the "UNIT 3 PRACTICE TEST REFLECTION" question at the Google classroom about how you did.

        Wed. March 18:
        Let's start Unit 4!
For the next 2 days learn about:
        - Density:  Video
        - Significant Digits: VIdeos
Work on Significant Digits & Density document - check answers
        - you likely don't have a printer - No problem! Pull up the document and do the problems on separate paper.
        - Make a notebook or 3-ring binder to organize the papers, that will probably be really helpful in April. Title each page to know what document they go with!

        Thurs. March 19:
Continue work on Significant Digits & Density document - check answers
Take Practice Quiz: Significant Digits (multiple times)
        - I plan to check this to see how you are doing, I expect you to get some wrong at the start.
-- If you are struggling, ask a question on our class Google doc (linked at the very top of Moodle page)

        Fri. March 20:
        Happy Friday!
        1st Listen to:  Mole Song
2nd Watch this video:  Mole Concept & Mole jars
        - Essential Questions: Kingdom Building w/ the mole concept
        Contemplate the "Mole Concept"

        "See" you next week!
